Creating a Custom MP3 Player with Photoshop

Step 1:

Let's start out by creating a new file. I used a 500x600 pixels canvas set at 72dpi, and I filled my background with a white color. Then on your tools palette set the foreground color to gray, color code #EDEDED.

Step 2:

Select the Rounded Rectangle Tool, above your screen under the options palette choose Fill Pixels, set the radius to 20 px and check anti-aliased. Create a new layer and draw a gray, color code #EDEDED rounded rectangle, exact size 237x360 px.

Step 3:

Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Stroke blending option to your gray rounded rectangle layer.

Step 4:

Duplicate your gray rounded rectangle layer and under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Drop Shadow, Satin and Stroke blending options.

Step 5:

Create a new layer then draw a #74DCFF color shade rounded rectangle on the middle of the MP3 Player design, exact size 204x223 px.

Step 6:

Now cut the bottom corners of the rounded rectangle from step five.

Step 7:

Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add an Inner Shadow, Satin and Stroke blending options to your #74DCFF color shade rounded rectangle.

Step 8:

In a new layer add the same rectangle with round corners from step six but black color.

Step 9:

Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Drop Shadow, Inner Shadow, Gradient Overlay and Stroke blending options to your black rounded rectangle layer.

Step 10:

On your layers palette set the layers blending mode of your black rectangle with top corners to Lighten.

Step 11:

Create a new layer, same location as shown on the picture draw a #F5F5F7 color shade circle, exact size 26x26 px. Then under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Gradient Overlay blending option.

Step 12:

Create another layer, inside your gradient circle add a smaller circle with #DBDBDD color shade and 20 x 20 px dimensions. Then under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add an Inner Shadow, Inner Glow, Satin, and Stroke blending options.

Step 13:

Select the Rounded Rectangle Tool, in a new layer draw a gray, color code #DBDBDD rounded rectangle, exact size 62x27 px.

Step 14:

Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Drop Shadow, Inner Shadow, Inner Glow, Satin and Strokeblending options to your gray rounded rectangle layer.

Step 15:

Select your Horizontal Type Tool and above your screen under the options palette set the font family to Arial, regular, 13 pt, crisp and black color. In a new text layer type 'Menu' on the glossy button.

Step 16:

Create a new layer set(Layer > New > Layer Set), name 'Button'. In a new layer draw a #F5F5F7 color shade circle, exact size 35x35 px. Then under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Gradient Overlay blending option.

Step 17:

Create another layer, inside your gradient circle add a smaller circle with #DBDBDD color shade and 24 x 24 px dimensions. Then under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add an Inner Shadow, Inner Glow, Satin, and Stroke blending options.

Step 18:

Now duplicate your 'Button' layer set twice and position them as shown below.

Step 19:

Select your Horizontal Type Tool and above your screen under the options palette set the font family to Webdings, regular, 16 pt, crisp and #00B9FF color shade. In seperate text layers type '4' '7' '8' and position each play button on the empty buttons.

Step 20:

Create a new layer, next to the menu button draw a #E5E5E7 color shade circle, exact size 23x23 px.

Step 21:

Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Drop Shadow, Inner Glow and Stroke blending options to your gray circle from step twenty.

Step 22:

Duplicate your circle layer from the last step.

Step 23:

Now add icons on the blank circle buttons. Select your Horizontal Type Tool and above your screen under the options palette set the font family to Webdings, regular, 18 pt, smooth and #969696 color shade. In seperate text layers type 'a' & 'X' and position them on the empty buttons.

Step 24:

Select the Rounded Rectangle Tool, in a new layer draw a black rounded rectangle, exact size 163x191 px.

Step 25:

Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Gradient Overlay blending option to your black rounded rectangle. Then set the layers blending mode to Lighten.

Step 26:

Select your Horizontal Type Tool and above your screen under the options palette set the font family to Arial, bold, 9 pt, sharp and #73767B color shade. In a new text layer type the name of your custom MP3 Player.
